Wedding RSVP's

Soon brides’ all over the country will begin to send out the invitations to their upcoming wedding. After the wedding invitations go out, brides anxiously wait for the RSVP’s to come in. I can relate to feeling of waiting for the mail to come each day to see who will be coming to the wedding. This can be a exceptionally exciting time during the planning process. However, there are times when a bride may receive a RSVP back with no name written on it. This happens all the time! How are you to tell who it is from? You can certainly look at the marks from the post office to see where it came from but what if you have multiple guests in that area. To make sure this does not happen to you, you can assign each guest a number and then write the number in one of the lower comers of the card before you mail the invites. Then if you receive a card back with no name, you are easily able to see who the invite came from. I know I don’t like the look of a number written in pen or pencil on RSVP card, so I recommend you use a black light pen. This is inconspicuous to the eye and will not detract from the RSVP.

The Gerbera Daisy is quickly becoming a popular wedding flower. One of the reasons for its popularity is it comes in almost any imaginable color. This makes it a sought after flower because it goes with anything. The gerbera is a very versatile flower; it can go from beachy to classic in a heartbeat. It all depends on how the flower is used. The blooms of the daisy are medium to large and they are quite heavy. This requires the flowers to carefully put together in a bouquet. The season for Gerbera Daisies is spring and summer. They are also cost effective.

Built in 1917 as a summer home and seasonal hunting lodge for Charles Boettcher, one of Colorado’s most prominent entrepreneurs, the Boettcher Mansion is a well preserved example of the historic Arts & Crafts style popular in the early 20th century. The mansion is located on the top of Lookout Mountain in Golden. It has views of Denver and the Continental Divide.

There are three locations for your event: The Mansion, Carriage House and Gazebo. You can rent them individually or together. Here is some information from their website: “The Fireside Room (the home’s original Great Room), with its cathedral beamed ceiling, inglenook fireplace and adjoining Dining Room, Piano Room and Patio, is used for parties of up to 150. The adjacent Carriage House, with its French doors leading to a flagstone patio, can hold groups up to 30-40. And the outlying Gazebo, originally used by the family to observe the wild turkeys, deer and elk that once roamed the property, is a rustic spot for intimate gatherings of 20 or less.” The cost to have a reception here varies depending on the room you choose and the time of day.

There are 12 on the list of approved caterers; it includes: Catering By Design, Colorado Catering Company, The Food Guy, Footers Catering, Gourmet Fine Catering, The Gourmet Kitchen, LeBrian's Catering, Occasions by Sandy, Sage Creek Catering, Tony Rosacci's Fine Catering.

Our new series is going to be talking about different kinds of flowers for your wedding. We are starting this series with the most popular flower: the rose!

Long considered a symbol of beauty and love, the rose figures into many myths and fairy tales. Romantic writers and poets have used the rose as a metaphor for emotion, beauty, passion, and true love throughout the ages.
The rose is far from boring, particularly when it comes to color, as the rose is available in solid colors and bicolor varieties.
There are striped roses and tipped roses as well. More than three thousand varieties of roses are grown commercially, with many being available all year-round.
Though roses are associated with luxurious fragrance, not every rose is scented.
There are three main types which are likely candidates for your wedding flowers:
• Hybrid Tea Roses - the classic, uniformly-shaped commercial roses generally seen at your local florist.
• Spray Roses - a rose with five to 10 small heads on each stem and a "natural, garden-grown" look.
• Garden Roses - expensive, old-fashioned varieties with bushy, open heads and delicious scents.

Arrowhead Golf Club is southwest of Denver, about 40 minutes away. It was opened in 2001 and is one of America’s top public golf courses. It is a beautiful location to host your wedding reception and ceremony. They have a gorgeous background for a ceremony and numerous locations for photographs. The ceremony cost varies depending on the time of year and the day of the week, but it ranges from $250-$1000. In order to have the ceremony here, you must also have your reception here too. They are not able to set up items such as escort card, favors, candy buffets, flowers, gift table, etc.; this is why it is great to have a coordinator at this facility. You are then able to enjoy the day with your family and not have to worry about setting up and if items are being taken care of. They offer a personalized menu for your reception and menu prices ranges from $45-105. The can host two events at one time and can accommodate 15-200 guests. From their website, here is some information regarding Arrowhead:

“The Roxborough Banquet Room is available May-August from 11:00am-4:00pm or 6:00pm-11:00pm. The Roxborough Banquet Room is available September and October from10:00am-3:00pm or 5:00pm-10:00pm. The Roxborough Room is also available in our off peak months, November-April. Event times during these months may be changed to accommodate sunset times. The Tent is available May-August from 12:00pm-5pm or 7pm-12am. The Tent is available in September from 11am-4pm or 6:00pm-11pm. You have use of the facility for 5 hours, plus your 1 ½ hour set-up and 1 hour tear down time. You may add a sixth hour to your event for an additional $300. The day event may only be added on to at the beginning, and the evening event may only be added on to at the end. New Blogging Series

I have decided to start a two new blogging series on my blog. There will be two going on at once, so stay tuned each week to see the new entries!!!

One series will be every other Wednesday and it will feature a wedding venue in Colorado. This is going to be the Colorado ABC Wedding Venues. So obviously, we will go through the alphabet and match venues to the letter. There are some letters that do not have a venue starting with it so I will just pick another! I thought this would be a good way to highlight some venues people may not be familiar with.

The next series will be a surprise but follows the same idea...it will debut on Monday!

I will also be posting shortly on the Stanley Hotel wedding from January 3!

Happy New Year!

2008 was a wonderful year for Something Classic Events! We were so honored to help all of our couples this year. We visted some fabolous places and got to work with some great new vendors.

We are looking forward to 2009 and all of our couples this year. We are getting more and more booked by the day! There are going to be some new changes coming along and we are going to be introducing some new posts to you all.

We have our first wedding of 2009 coming up this weekend at the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. This wedding is going to be fantastic! I have been working with the bride and groom since last April and this is truly a destination wedding for them - not a single guest lives in state. I will be sure to post some pictures when I return. Hope everyone had a great New Year! Cheers!
